The investment, made via Foxconn’s Singapore-based subsidiary, is being directed into Yuzhan Technology India Pvt Ltd, a key Apple vendor operating in Tamil Nadu. The funds are aimed at strengthening local production capacity and enhancing operational efficiency to support growing global demand for iPhones.
Big Push for 'iPhone Made in India'
Apple has been gradually shifting parts of its iPhone production away from China. India has emerged as a top alternative, supported by the Government of India’s ‘Make in India’ and PLI schemes.
Foxconn’s move is expected to increase the share of iPhones manufactured in India — which already crossed $7 billion in exports in FY24, nearly tripling from the previous year.
Karnataka Campus Nearing Completion
In addition to Tamil Nadu, Foxconn is constructing a 300-acre iPhone campus in Devanahalli, Karnataka. The site is expected to employ over 30,000 workers and begin operations within the next year.
Beyond Phones: Foxconn Eyes Semiconductor Space
Foxconn, in collaboration with the HCL Group, recently received approval for a semiconductor unit near Noida. The ₹3,700 crore plant will manufacture display driver chips, key for smartphones and other electronics.
